Accessibility statement
What this site does so that anyone in the Huntsville area can read it and reach us, whatever device or software they use.
Keyboard only
Every menu, link, accordion and form field can be reached and operated with the Tab and Enter keys, and the element in focus is outlined so you can see where you are.
Screen readers
Pages use real headings in order, landmark regions for the header, navigation, main text and footer, a link at the top that jumps past the menu, and a written description on every photograph.
Phones and zoom
The layout reflows on a phone, text can be enlarged to twice its size without anything being cut off, and the call button stays at the bottom of a small screen.
Colour and contrast
Text against its background meets the AA contrast level of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, and no information is carried by colour alone.
Motion and time
Nothing flashes. Hover effects are switched off for visitors whose device asks for reduced motion, and there is no countdown on any form.
Forms
Each field has a visible label and a plain error message. The inspection form asks for four things and lets you type the rest in your own words.
The phone is always an option
Anything the site can do, a call can do. Dial (256) 870-2453 at any hour to ask a question, book an inspection or raise a problem; a person calls you back.
Checked on every rebuild
Automated checks run each time the site is regenerated, and the pages are tried by hand with a keyboard, a screen reader and a phone before they go live.
Some job photographs show soil, cracks and crawl spaces that are hard to capture completely in a sentence; the description covers what matters for the page, and if it isn't enough, call and we will describe the picture. If any part of this site does not work with your device or software, email hello@rocketcityfoundation.com or call (256) 870-2453 and tell us which page and what went wrong. We answer within two business days and fix what is within our power.
